# Repeat for each item

Previously called For each item. Run the same steps once for every item in a list.

{% hint style="info" %}
Repeat for each item used to be called "For each item". Only the name has changed, existing pipes keep working.
{% endhint %}

### What is Repeat for each item?

Repeat for each item runs the same steps once for every item in a list. For example, if you have a list of event attendees, it sends one email per attendee.

Steps placed inside the block run once per item. Steps placed after the block run once, after the whole list has been processed.

## Prerequisites to use

You need a list to loop over. Any one of these works:

* Tiles - Find multiple rows step
* M365 Excel - Find multiple table rows step
* FormSG checkbox field
* FormSG table field

{% hint style="warning" %}
Turning on "Allow respondent to add more rows" on a FormSG table field does not by itself loop through the rows. You still need a Repeat for each item step that selects that table field as its list, otherwise only the first row is used.
{% endhint %}

## Fields

| Field        | Description                                                                     | Required?            |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------- |
| Choose items | The list to loop over. The steps inside the block run once for each item in it. | :heavy\_check\_mark: |

## Check step

The **Check step** button saves your set up and lets you check how many items are found.
